EventBELOVED FESTIVAL

Beloved FestivalDATE: August 12th ~ 16th
TIME: 4-Days ~ ALL DAY
LOCATION: Tidewater Falls, Oregon

MORE: We are delighted to present a new generation of masters. Vieux Farka Toure, Alam Khan, and Riffat Sultana follow in the footsteps of their fathers (each some of the greatest, and most widely respected, masters of their culture's music the world has ever known), and go beyond, carrying their lineages into the 21st century.

We are very excited to include some of the most significant artists in global electronic fusion.Cheb i Sabbah, Kaya Project, Gaudi and Ganga Giri are pioneers in the intelligent, respectful and engaging marriage of ancient tribal rhythm and cutting edge production.

MC Yogi and Kirtan Rabbi each have a uniquely modern approach to the ancient technology of call and response devotional singing; fusing it with old school hip-hop/modern dubs and hebrew chanting, respectively. Shantala and Jaya Lakshmi also bring inspiring contemporary kirtan enhanced by unusually great musicianship.

We strive each year to represent even more of the many varieties of sacred music from near and far. Joining us this year will be the Total Experience Gospel Choir (love of Jesus with enthusiasm but without fanaticism), Jack Falls-Rock (native american song and dance), Hassan Hakmoun (the north african sufi music of the gnawa), Razia Said (new takes on traditional Madagascaran melodies and rhythms used to speak out against rain forest destructions), dj Anjali & The Incredible Kid (the most sophisticated, cultured and dancy bhangra available to you in this country) and Vagabond Opera (a sexy and irreverent take on European Jewish Tradition).

This year we are presenting a photographic exhibit of Mt Everest with Kami Sherpa, the photographer and climber will be present to answer questions. There is a story just in understanding the difficulty of taking photographs with high winds attempting to blow a person off the mountain and then couple that with the movement of ones body due to very labored breathing. It was necessary for Kami to stop breathing while taking a photograph which greatly compromised his situation. It is safe to say that Kami risked his life to capture scenes of Mt Everest that had never before been photographed.
